// HOW IT WORKS

Three steps from a sentence to a workshop-ready file.

No CAD training, no toolbars to learn. Describe intent; refine with a conversation.

STEP 01
✍️

Describe it

Type the part in plain words — dimensions, holes, material. Volex asks a sharp clarifying question only if something's genuinely ambiguous, like a senior engineer would.

STEP 02

See it & refine it

Inspect the 3D model from any standard view, switch to a dimensioned 2D drawing, then adjust by typing an exact dimension, stepping it up or down, or just asking for a change.

STEP 03

Download & make it

Export manufacturable STEP, STL and DXF files. Run a validated stress, thermal or fatigue check first so you know it holds up — before you cut metal.

// WHY VOLEX IS DIFFERENT

Other AI tools guess the geometry. Volex checks the physics.

Anyone can generate a shape. The question an engineer actually asks is: will it hold? Volex runs real, deterministic finite-element, thermal and fatigue analysis — cross-checked against textbook closed-form solutions — so the answer is grounded, not a probabilistic guess.

That's the difference between a model you have to re-verify in SolidWorks, and one you can trust.

// CAPABILITIES

A conversational CAD studio, built for engineers.

Everything you need to go from idea to manufacturable part, in one place.

"Make the holes M8 and add a 2 mm fillet." Select a face, describe the change, and the model rebuilds.

Type or step a dimension

Every key dimension is an exact, editable value — type it or step it, and watch the part rebuild.FREE & INSTANT

Live 2D drawings

Switch to a dimensioned technical drawing. Click any dimension to change it and rebuild the 3D.

Click to select

Click a face or hole on the model itself. Confidence-gated detection — if it's not sure, it asks again instead of guessing wrong.

Parts marketplace

40 ready-made engineering parts — preview, customize in the studio, download.

Full-page Studio

A proper CAD workspace: feature panel, big viewport, multi-view, AI assistant.

Design to spec

Set a target safety factor and the dimension allowed to grow — Forge redesigns through verified rebuilds until the requirement is met, and hands you the proof chain.GATED IN CI

Real loads, real physics

Force, surface pressure, self-weight and shaft torque — every load type validated against closed-form theory (beam bending, qL⁴/8EI, TL/GJ) on every release.

〰️

Natural frequencies

One click gives the part's first vibration modes — will it resonate near your motor's RPM? Benchmark-validated against the analytical cantilever.

Assembly FEA (bonded)

Two-part assemblies solve with glued interfaces, and the fit check refuses to analyse geometry that interferes with itself. Honest scope: bonded means bonded — no slip modelled.

Edits that prove themselves

After every dimension change the rebuilt geometry is measured server-side and confirmed against what you asked for. Not assumed — measured.

Your part is real code

Every model keeps the exact build script that created it. Chat edits modify that source directly — everything you didn't mention stays untouched.

FAQ

Text-to-CAD questions, answered.

What is text-to-CAD?

Text-to-CAD means turning a plain-English description of a part into a real, manufacturable CAD file. You type something like “a steel bracket 100×50×10 mm with four M6 holes” and Volex Forge builds the 3D geometry and exports it as STEP, STL and DXF — no CAD software or drawing skills needed.

Can I generate a STEP file from text?

Yes. Volex Forge produces a genuine ISO 10303 STEP file (plus STL for 3D printing and DXF for 2D) from your description. Every dimension is measured against what you asked for, so the file matches your intent — not an approximation.

How is Volex Forge different from other AI CAD tools?

Most AI CAD tools generate geometry and hope it’s right. Volex Forge verifies every part: the built geometry is measured against your stated dimensions, FEA is cross-checked against textbook closed-form solutions, and anything it can’t prove, it declines rather than shipping a wrong file.

What parts can it make?

Brackets, plates, flanges, shafts, gears, pulleys, bushings, housings, structural sections and multi-body assemblies (gear-on-shaft, bearings, bolted stacks) — each built by a verified template. Whole products are broken into buildable parts, one verified file at a time.

Is it free to try?

Yes — you can describe a part and see a 3D preview free. Downloading the manufacturable STEP/STL/DXF files for a part you generate is £2.99, or unlimited on Pro (£29/month or £290/year). Ready-made parts in the marketplace start from £0.99.
